And we are going to take in the Rockettes...really looking forward to it. Nothing else that we are committed to at a specific time, so will just take it as it comes and have fun with it!!

Hi Hummer....soooo nice to see you. Smiler

I'm having the same trouble with shopping this year, just can't seem to get in gear....but I did buy an animated buck, doe and baby for the front yard this year...finally. Big Grin

I love Mike and Juliet, they make the cutest pair, too bad they're not a couple. Do you happen to know if Juliet is still dating the lion tamer? I remember when he was a guest on their show...lol.

If you get the chance, you just gotta take the carriage ride thru Central Park. And take lots of pictures while you're up there. Times Square, the Metropolitan Museum of Art.....ooooh goose-a-bumps....can I go with you???? Waaaaaaah, now I'm homesick. Red Face

PS: My friend Neal was on the radio this morning reading a letter from an airline pilot that flies over Gloucester at 30,000 feet. He was tracking down the source of bright lites that he mapped out with GPS. It's Danny Joyce's house, 200,000 lights for Christmas. LOLOL....one of the big social events out here is the lighting ceremony. Naturally they don't charge..but they do ask for food donations for the local homeless shelters and, our local Humane Society. What a hoot, it can be seen from 30,000 feet! The pilot wants to come see it the next time he has a layover in Richmond. Big Grin

Last Feb I got a carriage ride around St. Augustine, so I probably won't be lucky enough to have that again!!! But the camera is definitely going with me...will see what I come up with, may post if any are good enough.

Greetings and good day to all. Smiler

Hummer, I wonder if it is the lion tamer??? I used to watch Mike and Juliet when they were on the Fox News channel, now I think their just on one of the affiliates. My TV has 3 channels, Fox News, HBO and 14 (House on Tuesday nights).

I've been working so hard this past month that I just wanted to come and sit to watch the waves, smell the sea air and watch the seagulls. Smiler So much to do today, including a holiday luncheon, then later this afternoon I have to go for sawdust (after offering to bribe the mill owner for dry sawdust). My next day off is Sunday so I have to get as much done today as I can. Roll Eyes Can't wait for my vacation to start, even if I do spend 2 days on the sofa recovering from all the hubbub and grinding schedule.

I see on the news that many of our members are knee deep in snow...and one has no heat? Yikes! We haven't had snow here yet but something tells me we'll get our fair share before the winter is over.

Dang, gotta run already. Stay warm and safe everybody, only 7 more days to Christmas. Smiler

Hey Patty, Juliet's fiance is somewhat balding and his name is Doug Barrett...is that the lion tamer???
Didn't make it to the Met Museum...not even the outside of it!! I THOUGHT we were cutting across 81st st from the Museum of History to the Met...I goofed Roll Eyes We were walking in part of Central Park, and then walked up Central Park West to somewhere in the 100's...105, 110th, i don't know, but it was starting to get dark as in the weather, and then the neighboorhoods were starting to get darker, as in the people Eeker and I was starting to get just a little bit uneasy. Especially when I finally asked someone how far we were from the Met museum and she said "where"?? Aaaaagh!!!! After looking at our map later, I discovered we were actually on the fringes of Harlem Roll Eyes
Times Square was amazing, as was the Rockettes performance. We saw someone proposing on one knee at the Rockefeller Center skating rink...and felt the somberness of the area at the WTC. As soon as I can get to a high speed connection, I am gonna post some pics somewhere. We just tried to cram too much into too little time. I even had considered getting a hold of Fries to see if he and his lovely Carol would meet up with us somewhere...just didn't have the time. Carl surprized me by saying he would like to go back sometime!! I wouldn't mind that myself. Of course, our 11 yr old grandson said he wants to go with us when we do!!!
Here's hoping you had a wonderful Christmas, and that you soon get all your painting finished! Happy New Year to you and everyone.

Love and Hugs,
Hummer

Hi Hummer. Smiler

I tried to dig up who Doug is, I honestly can't remember if he's the lion tamer or not...darn it.

I was trying to get here last night but was sidelined by an email that literally had me sitting at the computer with my chin on the floor: http://www.dailypress.com/news/dp-local_stanawayobit_1228dec28,0,1942109.story

A phone call this evening puts the funeral on Tuesday, 3/4 of the county will no doubt be there. I really liked the man, had several conversations with him over the years about the fireworks. He was always friendly and helpful, I'm really sad about this, heard earlier that his condition was terminal.................

Hummer, I'll check out your pics after a quiet walk on the beach........................

Awww, Patty...how sad. He probably thinks the way he chose would bring less trouble and expense to his family, but how sad. What a tuff way for his family to have to deal with his death, even tho death was inevitable. Frowner

His funeral is on Tuesday, I have to leave 2 hours ahead to be sure to get inside. This will no doubt be the biggest funeral this county has seen in decades. He was very popular and ran this county for 20 years, only losing re-election last year over a countywide argument over building a new jail (the funding).

I was talking with some mutual friends that we had and it appears he had terminal cancer in his sinuses, throat and neck. It is very sad to see a man of his stature struck down, he was in immense pain 24/7. I had a very enlightening conversation with a minister this afternoon about his death. Tomorrow I will write about what he said when I write about the funeral.

His funeral with have all high officials from here and all the surrounding areas, along with law enforcement from across the state. It will no doubt be a very moving and tough day for all. He really was a good man, I've spoken with him several times over the years and ran into him when he was visiting one of the mutual friends we had.

Back to painting............................
