The current Yanni Fan Management has caused much hurt / anger by repeatedly insulting the intelligence and showing such disregard for Yanni's fans, essentially due to their cold marketing operations throughout this year. Inspite of a great new video on it's official video page @ YouTube not too many, apparently, are in the mood to accept any more' unexpected' surprises coming out of the Yanni Voices closet.
This video truly is awesome and we would normally be celebrating it. But one can understand why everything is undeniably sour now. I hope that will change coz... it's sad and shouldnt be this way.
That said; Yanni Management it's time to face certain facts, and wake up to the reality of the situation;
Great Project + (choose suitable choice of adjective; eg - Cold / Inhuman / PATHETIC ) Fan Management = Disaster.
Sorry. Not good timing of this post. But the truth is the the truth. And the writing has been on the wall for a long time. This video was apparently sent to the new 'Voices Fan Club' last week. No one even breathed a WORD! WHY WOULD THEY? You treated your most loyal fans like trash... created such confusion... and then you want them to support your endeavor? Sorry! Unlikely going happen!
We are people. Not tools.
And its not like one or two things. Right through 2008 you have constantly isolated the fans and, I'm afraid, it feels like you 'used' us.
Once, forgiven - coz we love Yanni (not necessarily you) Twice, we overlook - coz we really love Yanni (definitely not you) Thrice... you can go take a hike
No matter how good the content, kid yourself not, if you expect support from people you insult and humiliate...
This is such a great great project with such tremendous potential... but just look at the mess your incompetency in some areas is making out of it.
Unfortunately I'm forced to agree with you..... being a Yanni fan for more than 10 years I could never imagine that he'd get to this. it seems that the business game he never wanted to play has seduced him.... what a shame, really... kind regards,
i think Yanni has always been more drawn to seeking things out ourselves instead of having them handed to us. they have more meaning that way. i believe that a performer having gratitude for, and appreciating their listeners, and sharing the meaning of the music, and enjoying a connection via that route, is way more satisfying for both, in lieu of material or tangible expectations.
With few exceptions, no one uses me unless I let them. And sometimes disappointment in someone you really don't know, can be based on misconception. I think Yanni might be one of those folks who is wise enough to sometimes plan his choices in a way that can be sort of a tough love, so to speak. The wisdom learned later, can hit you like a rock and turn your disappointment around into something positive. He's very clever about letting people experience things for themselves and never imposing his own beliefs.
i think the video is fanastic and really enticing. was fun to stumble across it instead of seeing a bold headline.
I must say that I was very skeptical, but I am now getting to know this music and starting to like it. The nican piece is amazing and new. I love it. I like the voice he put to tribute now. The guy has talent.
I am one of those that was VERY skeptical, but it is turning out to be great. I am seeing Yanni as someone who is expanding his wings and looking for something new to do, and this is it.
I am excited that Disney and him are working together, I always thought his music should be in films. This new project proves that he can do all kinds of music, and he will gain more recognition through this project, at least that is my hope.
I've showed this video to my friends and it has excited them, as well as myself. As for the negativity? Well... folks... music is music, I don't think Yanni meant anything bad and I'm sure he is too busy with music that the people who have actually gotten you folks upset are the people that are helping him. I am still a Yanni fan.
I agree with your opinion that the people who have made some delegated decisions or recommendations regarding business decisions are probably the people responsible for upsetting Yanni fans in general.
In all honesty, I don't like a lot of things I see around Yanni at this point. His decisions to delegate are precisely that: his decisions. I would not presume to say they were wise or unwise decisions.
It seems that all of us would be wiser to withhold full critiquing until such time as we see and hear either the live concerts or the new material as it is released to us. I suspect that this is precisely what many are doing.
I won't write what I think or feel about the music, the singers, or the concert until I hear and see them myself. That would be either on video or in person.
There is something very positive about constructive critiquing when it really is constructive.
Until the very last moment ... may you be at peace,
Lanette
