I took my aunt & uncle and a friend to see Yanni at the Oakland CA concert, and so now there are at least 3 NEW FANS!!! We loved the show, and I'm happy to say it was better than I expected.
I had a seat in the front row center wearing one of my trademark hats, and my thrill of the night was having Yanni stand on stage right in front of where I was sitting and point to me with both hands and nod!! My friends and family were sitting in the 9th row, and even from there they said they could tell he was pointing right at ME! Yes, he did recognize me from the many times I have met him, so for me that was a most wonderful Yanni moment!! When he pointed to me, everyone in the front row looked over at me, like "who the heck is SHE!???" LOL!! I knew he saw me and acknowledged me and he knew I knew! It was a moment I'll never forget!
After the concert, we went outside to wait for his limo so I could have my family and friends meet him. This has worked at every single concert I have attended so far, but at this venue, we didn't see his limo come out! My friend and I ran around the whole arena trying to find him, but we never did see Yanni. We did, however, get to meet all of the other main performers, such as Nathan, Ender, Chloe, Leslie, Charlie, Victor, Ann Marie, and more! Each spent time speaking and taking photos with us, which was extremely nice of them all! They must have been so tired and dying to get on the bus, but they made time for all of us!
Nathan was particularly sweet! He first came out laden down with a carry bag and other stuff, and said "I'm gonna take this all to the bus and come back"... Well, we all thought, "oh sure!" But... he DID come back!
I'll try to post some picture soon. My only regret is we somehow missed Yanni's limo after the show, and I would love to know if anybody else who attended the Oakland concert managed to be at the right location to see Yanni after the concert!???
Yanni, you did it again, and yes, the unexpected WAS unexpected.. and FANTASTIC!!!
