I know this topic has been discussed before and subsequently closed. I would like to reopen the discussion and lobby for Yanni publishing his videos in the Blu-ray format. I've seen where a moderator has stated that particular decision is not up to Yanni but up to his musical video publisher. I would like to belive that the artist certainly has some "pull" with his publisher. Now that the "format war" is definitively over and the market for players is growing exponentially it's time for this to be pursued in ernest. For those of you out there who have not made the switch or not seen the difference between standard DVD and Blu-Ray I encourage you to take a look see. The old saying "once you've tasted champagne, you'll never go back to beer" certainly applies here. And Yanni's concerts are certainly in the "Champagne" category. Shouldn't his videos be presented the same way?
Since I saw "The concert event" DVD I was searching for it on Blu-Ray (because I "tasted" HD def. on Premiere TV in Germany.) It is exactly like @Driftwood said.
An Yanni concert is the perfect stuff for a Blu-Ray Disk.
Some day (perhaps in 2009) it will be there, I'm sure!
Glad to hear it NikiN! And I forgot to mention that the audio tracks are better on blu-ray as well but you have to have the equipment (AV receiver) to take full advantage of it. The Concert Event is my favorite DVD of his. I've got the Acropolis concert too but the video/audio quality isn't as good as I would like it, even by DVD standards. Haven't seen the Tribute dvd.
Hello friends, I agree with you, Yanni should release a blue-ray disc to his concerts but, first of all should release it on DVD HD disc (8 GB) because the DVD player is available to all people as for Blue-Ray discs and player are costly and not available to all people.
The problem with HD DVD is that the format is not being supported anymore. I don't believe you will be seeing much of anything in HD DVD any more except what might be left over stock.
I am in!!!!! What many may not realize is that Yanni Live was filmed in HD so the picture will truly be outstanding, no upconversion here. Also the sound will likely have the capability to be at minimum Dolby digital and at best Dolby Digital Master. My DVD player upconverts to 1080p but nothing is like raw 1080p. Who is the publisher, we should start a petition.
Since Blu ray DVDs and players are not quite as prevalent in the general population yet as HD DVDs/players and the original DVDs/players, perhaps the publisher should do a market study to see what the ratio of marketability would be. Of course, I would guess that they would want to study targeted market areas for existent Yanni fans, but also do projections of probable fans for Yanni Voices.
It would seem good business planning to consider the markets everywhere, also keeping in mind the state of the world's economy.
My thoughts? Perhaps go conservative with a limited edition of Blu ray DVDs. It could become a collector's item later.
Until the very last moment ... may you be at peace,
Lanette

Now that Blu-Ray has won the "format war" over HD DVD it only makes sense that Yanni's concerts (that were filmed in HD) be released in Blu-Ray as well. I hope I didn't give the impression that I was suggesting a Blu-ray only release.
