I am not a poet, but I enjoy trying out doing different things. The following two poems I wrote a while back, and deal with attitudes. This is an area where I need a lot of work personally. Perhaps some will feel uplifted by these thoughts. I know it helps me when I write them, so for what they are worth...
The Smiling Face
The smiling face, it says so much It says, you’re happy, it makes you blush It makes young hearts go all agush The spontaneous smiling face
The smiling face, it hides so much It hides your fears, and your mistrust It hides your sorrows without fuss The strained smiling face
The smiling face, is hard to keep When thoughts and feelings run so deep When pain and sorrow in your life seep The tear stained smiling face
The smiling face, it’s up to you You choose which face to smile through So choose to smile each day anew An honest, smiling face
A Great Life
Great lives are not defined by how blue one’s blood may be For many of the bluest blood a real life never see
Great lives are not defined by the money you can make For many lives that have great wealth leave problems in their wake
Great lives are not defined by the beauty of your face For many a beautiful person lives a life that has no grace
Great lives are not defined by the clothing that you wear For great lives can be found in those without a fashion flair
Great lives are not defined by the places you have been For many who’ve gone round the world have lived a life of sin
Great lives are not defined by your power or your fame For at some point in each man’s life these two will not remain
Great lives instead are known by the message that you give A helping hand, a loving smile, the joyful life you live Great lives are always known by one’s willingness to forgive
I love both of these; great food for thought. I hope you will write more, if not here, then on the Creative thread over yonder. These are wonderful. You go girl.
Thank you ladies for your nice remarks. I'm just a dabbler in the poetry area but I find it to be therapeutic. I had never tried it before but was inspired to try by some of the poetry in this Creative Forum!
Very nice work Patricia. I like them very much, as you extend yourself, and release.
We all do it with differences, but as we create, and give of ourselves, it is fulfilling. There is no right way, no wrong way, it is just our way.
Yanni had the hammer put down on him, at one point, and still does by many. How rude of other human beings to do so. If they do not 'get it' then move on to something that will, but do not slam another.
Anyway, I hope to see more from you, and the works are wonderful that you did. You go girl!
Much love, Dara
Love Reflected In Love. How Simple. It encompasses all.
Profound words tend to erupt out of us after keeping thoughts in for a long period of time. So it would seem they have with you Patricia.
Do keep writing poetry. I like your style.
Until the very last moment ... may you be at peace,
Lanette
