I've put lyrics to music, but now the challenge, should you be watching, is to put music to lyrics. Cool

Medicine Man
copyright 2008

You look through a window
Remembering when
People walk by
And you watch where they go

You wonder for their lives
See where they've been
Following all
Of the light in their eyes

You walk by the water
and sea stealing sand
Whispering waves
Of you want to love her

Now you're driving along
On the edge of the sun
Wondering why
All your love's in a song

Is it once
We live to belong
Is it to home
Fires we turn
And is it to love
We always return

Growing up who you were
On sure solid ground
Strong in your ways
But had you been found

Living outside of time
Like a child who's free
With vision inside
Willing to see the sign

You stand by the flame
In the quiet of the night
Medicine man
Calling out to your name

So you move to the light
But not to be burned
Lifting your wing
For to live you must fly

Is it once
We live to belong
Is it to home
Fires we turn
And is it to love
We always return

Instrumental bridge

Outside of time
Medicine man
On the edge of the sun
Vision inside
Medicine Man
On the edge of the sun

Hawksister,

I love your lyrics. All of them. Especially when I re-read them. You express such a fine and delicate understanding of the human condition in your words. These are words that will have even greater meaning if used correctly in music.

I love challenges too.
And while I'm open to accepting your's, you must understand that it may not be possible to immediately create something.
I don't have the ability to just 'will' music.( I don't know if anybody does )
Creating music for a purpose, at least to me, can never be forced. It comes when it does. And when the music comes, then, I believe, it is my responsibility to nuture it and find it's true nature.

The Japanese call this 'KENSHO'.

It essentially means, 'to find or see one's true nature'.

To me this is especially important.
Forcing music out to manipulate a situation amounts to doing business (nothing wrong with doing business) But as an artist, and as a musician, I don't create music just for the sake of it.

So know that your words are in my heart and in my mind ( and also in my Macbook Pro! )
And if I can ever find the true nature of your words in my music, I'll post a reply.

I just cannot honestly say when that will ever be.

Kind regards,
watching

ps; Im not Japanese!

Thank you qui vive, Wide-awake.
It was thrown out there with no time attached, don't think in those lineal terms.
Yes !! Greater meaning when used correctly in music!

Perhaps there is a fine line between willing creativity and being aware of it's happening.
One does have control of the latter.
I believe once awareness takes hold, not doing anything about it is a sin.

Yes, the concept of Kensho is important to respect. Might be everything. I typed all the lyrics I've presented here, because they came directly from Kensho-land, upon my seeing other Kenshos kenshoing kenshosistically.

Agreed, creating music just for the sake of it is ca ca - that's not music anyway.

"Only the heart can speak to the heart." Now that's music.

Keep Smilin.

p.s. I'm not Japanese either. Cool
