Hi Jojo, Thank you for sharing your opinion. I am very sorry that you were disappointed with the Voices concert. Yanni would hope all his fans could support this new direction in his career but I'm sure he will understand that it might not appeal to everyone. Maybe if you attend the live concert it will be more appealing to you but if not, Yanni has said that he will always believe in instrumental music. This project might not be for you but please keep listening because I'm sure Yanni still has a lot of wonderful compositions to share with us in the future. Take care,

quote: Years ago Yanni told Larry King " I will never use words in my music". ( paraphrasing here ) Seems like Yanni forgot that tidbit. Hey JoJo...I couldn't find that tidbit. I did find these tidbits.
quote: I do not like repetition. I’m a creative entity. I got to live and try different things, and keep my mind open about everything. - Yanni on Larry King 1998
quote: I just would use any instrument known to man in any combination as long as it describes an emotion. As long as it does a good job at describing what it is that I am trying to describe. - Yanni on Larry King 2003.
I've been a Yanni Fan a long time. "Never" is a word I haven't heard him say much at all over the years. (Unless it's "never" too late )

There are 1 or 2 songs that I do like the singing with, but overall, I think they sound a little, like, I dunno, a little off. I love the Voices version of Tribute. I see it differently though. If he ran out of ideas, he would be playing the same stuff from last concert. Voices WAS his idea.
This reminds me alot of when Metallica teamed up with the San Fransico orchestra and redid about 20 of their songs with an orchestra. Obviously the "orchestra" fans were like "omg, death rock" and the die hard metallica metal heads were like "Dang, old people music with our Metallica" And it was weird at first hearing violins, cellos, flutes, etc with Metallica, but after a while, it kinda comes together, and, Metallicas S&M concert was one of my favorites.
It took time because it was different. But after the S&M tour, it went right back to the "old" Metallica. It was a project they did, and maybe the same goes for Yanni.
I think you may be over reacting slightly though. So, if in 2 years he comes out with a 100% instrumental, exciting, bunch of songs, you refuse to listen or buy a CD because of the Voices decision? Wow, sorry you'd have to experience such a loss.
