My daughter and I went to the Manchester, NH concert last night. It was amazing, as we expected, to actually see them performing live. It is a fairly small venue, and we had excellent seats.

My only disappointment was in the attendance. There were so many vacant seats, and most of the crowd was so unresponsive. We thought no one was going to get up during Niki Nana. It took Yanni gesturing at the edge of the stage to actually get people up. They did receive nice ovations. They gave it their all in spite. They perform like it is a sold out house no matter what.

I envy those of you who have yet to see the show and hope I have the privilege of attending another.

Hi Yanni Fans!! This is Shirley’s daughter Leslee. Just wanted to throw in my two cents about the show. Came up from Houston to see it and, it was all that I expected and more- which is typical of a Yanni show. It was nice to actually be able to sing along to some of the songs when it’s usually all instrumental. (Knowing Spanish helps). Nathan’s Adagio was amazing, and so is the song that Leslie sings when the curtain is down when she is wearing the flowy dress! Wish that one was on the cd! And I also wish the cd featured the song with Chloe and Ender doing that upbeat spanish duet… that one is really fun. I couldn’t stop moving the entire show, and as Shirley said, I think we were the only ones! I was almost embarassed to be in that crowd during Niki Nana… but like Mom said they gave it their all anyway because they are amazing musicians and performers. My only “con” was the cut off of Standing in Motion (one of my faves)… it was kind of a tease, but at least it was followed by Nostalgia Smiler

I will be attending the Houston show in mid-June and bringing my boyfriend who is a Yanni-virgin!!! It should be interesting, and hopefully the crowd will be more receptive!

Yanni concerts never ever ever cease to amaze me!

Hi Shirley and Leslee,
Sorry we wern't able to hook up before last nights show in Manchester.
I too was suprised at the size of the audience. But you wern't the only ones whos seat didn't get much of a break because I too was moving and my poor lap took quite a beating Wink.
My husband and I also went to the show in Boston on Sunday at the last minute. AS soon as Niki Nana started myself and the woman behind me stood up and started to dance and we were asked to sit back down. Then like you said Yanni made the motion and the dancing began. At the Manchester show I was in the fifth row on the left.A woman in the third row got up at the begining of Niki Nana and she was asked to wait until the end of the song. I'm guessing it has probally been like that at all the shows so far. I think it was a bummer because I couldn't wait to get on my feet and dance dance dance. As I'm sure did alot of other people Wink I even told my husband that I wanted to move to the back of the floor so I could dance without being in anybodys way but he said the probally wouldn't let me. I think if I could have I would have been up for 80% of the concert and I bet you would have been right there beside me. Big Grin
Maybe a suggestion to have a dancing section can be made to the powers that be ,so next time around those of us who can't sit still won't get in trouble Eeker

As for the show I only have two words to say
LOVED IT!

Well, at the beginning of Niki Nana at the first Radio City Music Hall concert last Friday, I stood up and stayed up and clapped and jammed during the entire song. Smiler Front row dead center. One of the pictures below. That’s what Yanni and the Voices want – for folks to join in on the fun with them. For sure, many times others around you do not want to do the same and that is a shame.

I've been to many Yanni concerts over the years, including several so far on this tour. I always get up at the opening notes of Niki Nana. I've never been asked to sit down. If I was, I would simply invite the person asking me to sit down to get up and have some fun. Sometime, if I want more room, I'll go out into the aisle or down front to dance. I wouldn't think of not dancing to Niki Nana, even though I'm usually exhausted when it's done. LOL! And I know what you mean about dancing in your seat. I do that through most of the concert also. Big Grin
Who asked these people to sit down? Was it staff or other audience members?

In Orlando, we all got up and danced.. No one ask anyone around us to sit down.. That is a real shame because the Voices urge you to stand up and dance! Eeker

I think that Yanni should motion for everyone to get up and dance RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING! They wait for him!! That is not the norm. But you won't have to wait for the crowd to stand when they are in Chicago...we will be on our feet the instant it starts!!! Big Grin

It was a staff person who asked us to sit down at both shows. These were my 9th and 10th Yanni concerts and I've always been able to "dance and chant" during all of Niki Nana.

Perhaps the Voices should hold signs at the start of the song that says Stand Up! Smiler

That's a great idea, Strangetimesone. At least now I don't feel quite so bad knowing what took people so long to get up.

I, too, have been to many many Yanni concerts, and this is the first time I have EVER heard of anyone being told to sit down during Niki Nana!! I wonder how Yanni and the Voices feel about that.

Sorry, I missed you, Katie. I hope they make it back East fairly close again this tour.

Anne, thank you for the welcome to Leslee. She is quite an avid Yannifan. She said all of Houston must have heard the cd while she's driving.
