What are your favorite Yanni's compositions and why?
This are mine:
01. Nostalgia
This melody is like a gate to some other world. It starts mysterious and then turns into dramatic melody that sounds like something from different world. I like both LAA and KTI versions, but original KTI version I like a little more because it sounds more abstract. It is masterpiece.
02. One Man's Dream
I remember hearing this melody on radio many times before I knew who Yanni is. It is so emotional, dreamy and simply great melody.
03. Santorini
A composition that turns me into Yanni's fan. Just like "Nostalgia" it starts mysterious and turns into dramatic "bigger than life" part. Very magical and melody is great.
04. Standing In Motion (LAA version)
Wow... hearing this is truly exciting experience... agressive, unpredictable, abstract, exciting. Although original version is great too, this live version with orchestra is great improvement and it really does justice to such great composition.
05. So Long My Friend
Yanni made with only a few notes such emotional and touching composition. It is very nostalgic, sad and it really makes you think about friend that you lost contact with.
06. Love Is All
Simply stunning and inspirational song with great vocal.
07. Dance With A Stranger (Tribute version)
Exciting version with southern touch... impressive!
08. To Take... To Hold
Very emotional and beautiful melody. Same for "Before The Night Ends".
09. Farewell
Probably only great song on "Opt" album. It is magical.
10. Paths On Water
It sounds static, yet strong and exciting. Classic Yanni from beginning.
There are many many other great Yanni's songs, but this are some of most favorite.
